Course Overview:
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.
*This instructor-led course is vital if your goal is to become an instructor.*
What to Wear:
Dress for the weather if class is at an outdoor range
Closed toe shoes
Crew neck or high collar shirts such as a polo or button up
What to Bring:
Handgun (if you own one)
50–100 rounds of FMJ ammunition
Eye and ear protection
Note taking materials
Snacks and water
Additional Notes:
Successful completion of the written assessment and practical live fire performance as required by curriculum to pass
No live firearms or ammunition in the classroom
